Description
Mental health has historically been relegated to the private or strictly clinical sphere, distanced from public awareness and, above all, disconnected from the political and legal domains of human rights. Psychological problems and their circumstances and consequences do not arise in a vacuum, but rather in specific social contexts shaped by inequalities, violence, imposed silences, and loss of rights. Placing mental health within the human rights framework implies recognizing it as a structural and collective issue, not merely an individual one.
Critical observation and interpretation of what surrounds us help us reflect on the causes, implications, and consequences of a problem that often remains hidden in everyday life, and which we believe must be addressed from a broad perspective, with a panoramic view of the world. In other words, global critical thinking must be activated through local advocacy.
The Research Group «Social and Institutional Communication» and the «Campus of Cultural and Corporate Communication», both entities of the University of Girona, through their research, aim to share knowledge, advocate for social and community policies, demand accountability from public administrations, and give voice to the most silenced and underserved sectors of our society.
