The present volume comprises an important part of the papers presented in the II and III Meeting of Young Researchers in the Immigration and Asylum Law held in Barcelona and Girona respectively. The diversity of contributions to the meetings reflects the wide spectrum of research in progress, and is distinguished from other works of more systematic nature into this area of law. With this perspective, the first section collects, under the title "Questions of alien status in Community Law and in the domestic law", different contributions from transversal and generic areas, that give way to an individual analysis of specific rights and of their limitations in a second section dedicated to Spanish legislation, under the title "Rights and freedoms of foreign people"; the third section of the volume deals with the right of asylum. As a corollary, accounts of the situation of immigration and asylum in Ireland, Romania and Germany in the two last years are included.n
