This book is the result of the postgraduate course “Infermeria en salut comunitària” organized by the Escola Universitària d’Infermeria de la Universitat de Girona. It contains, in four substantial sections, the factors that condition it and which are essential for implementing any action in this field.nThe first part of the book, “Context polític, econòmic i administratiu de la salut comunitària”, analyzes the definition of health systems, their varieties and the current health framework: the rules and guidelines that govern this work in the current legislation. The second part, “Metodologia en salut comunitària”, sets out the methodology that should be used while doing community work.nContextualizing community involvement from a psychosocial perspective is necessary for facing up to the social reality of those people who form our community. The third part dedicated to migrations emphasizes the care and respect with which this problem must be dealt with. nFinally, the fourth part of the book, “La infermeria i la intervenció comunitària”, deals with the instruments and actions that are necessary for this work in the community sphere. It begins with a brief outline of the evolution of community nursing up to the present day, describing the provision of health services in Catalonia, revealing the various treatment resources, and the importance of their coordination, of recording all the involvement of health education, both at individual and group level, and in the different stages of the life cycle. This section also presents home nursing treatment. Shared caring is revealed as a new way of working.nAttention given to specific groups or health problems is also analyzed, such as attention given to adolescents. In addition, some reflections are incorporated regarding the relationship between gender and health and the differential death rate in women. The question of attending immigrants is also introduced, as well as a consideration of the attention to the treatment of mental health problems, both of which are increasing at the present moment. Finally, various aspects related to professional responsibility are set out.n
